New Delhi, Oct 16: Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leader Abhijit Dipke on Thursday claimed that he expected to be detained within hours, alleging that he was being followed and watched, and called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare an emergency in the country.

“I am being followed and watched here. They will pick me up tonight, or tomorrow, for sure,” Dipke said on Thursday night.

He questioned the circumstances surrounding the judicial custody of his colleagues Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das, who were arrested amid protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

“There has never been a situation where a citizen is being asked not to unfurl the Tricolour. We are only asking for accountability. We simply want the government to find a new person to replace CEC Gyanesh Kumar,” he said.

Dipke’s remarks came amid continuing tensions over protests against the Election Commission and demands for accountability from its chief.

Reacting to reports that an effigy of cockroaches would be burnt alongside that of Ravana in Pitampura, Dipke said, “They only think of cockroaches even in dreams.”

He did not provide further details to substantiate his claim that he would be detained.
