New Delhi: Delhi Police has issued a notice to mosque imams, instructing them not to include prayers for Palestine during religious sermons inside mosques, reports said.

The city police’s notice warned of consequences if imams mention ‘Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza’ in sermons.

Bahujan Samaj Party MP Danish Ali, All India Muslim Personal Law Board spokesperson and Welfare Party of India national president Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas, and lawyer MR Shamshad have denounced the police notice, stating that the praying for the victims is an integral part of worship in Islam.

Muslim leaders argue that the directive infringes upon religious freedom.

Reportedly, the cops have intervened during prayers at a mosque in Old Delhi, pressuring an imam not to talk about Palestine.
