Srinagar: In a blow to the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), led by former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, district development council member Verinag Peer Shahbaz announced his resignation from the party.

Shahbaz cited the party's lack of acceptance among the people of Kashmir as his reason for leaving.

Talking to mediapersons, Shahbaz said that he has quit the party, claiming that DPAP is not acceptable to Kashmiris.

The news comes as another setback for DPAP, which was founded by Azad in 2022 after his departure from the Congress. Earlier, dozens of DDCs members mostly from Azad party joined Indian National congress.
