Understand Importance Of Credible Exams: KU To Students

Srinagar: After a section of Engineering and Nursing students of Kashmir University (KU) staged protest inside the varsity demanding online examinations, the University of Kashmir made an earnest appeal to the students and their parents to understand the importance of credible examinations.

The protest was held days after the KUโ€™s Examination department scheduled all its postponed and pending examinations from mid-February through offline mode.

However, the protesting students said the authorities in Jammu University (JU) besides the NIT have already decided to hold the examination through online mode, โ€œbut the administration at KU was adamant to hold offline exams, leaving students in distress.

Dean Academic Affairs, Jammu University confirmed to The Himalayan Post that as of now, they are conducting this current examinations through online mode.

Subsequently, the Dean of Academic Affairs, University of Kashmir, Prof Farooq Masoodi told The Himalayan Post that whatever Jammu University does and what we do are not the guiding principles. We have our own ecosystem and our situations are different.

โ€œWe had already shifted to offline examinations in October 2021 and many students did appeared, how we can conduct online exams for a fraction of students. There is no credibility in online exams and as a teaching functionary, my conscience doesnโ€™t allow for such important courses,โ€ he said.

Furthermore, a student from the LAW department in University of Kashmir allegedly said the authorities in Kashmir University ignore students and keeps delaying examinations.

"Students in Jammu are one semester ahead of us," he added.
