PULWAMA, 28 February 2025 — Residents of Tral and Khrew in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district have voiced frustration over the prolonged delay in completing the Syedabad-Wahab Sahab road, a vital 8-kilometer stretch meant to improve connectivity between Tral and Pampore.
Launched in 2015 with an estimated cost of ₹16 crore, the project was initiated by then-MLA Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, but construction was halted for unknown reasons.
“There has been no progress for the last 10-11 years. This road would directly link Tral with Khrew and Pampore, bypassing Awantipora,” said Shahid Ahmad, a Tral resident.
Locals have urged authorities, including the Chief Minister and local MLAs, to intervene and restart construction.
An official acknowledged the delay, stating that a ₹26 crore Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been submitted, but approval is still pending. “We expect work to resume soon,” he mentioned.
