Rs 46.60 Cr STP Approved for Gulmarg, Sanitation Upgrade Planned

Jammu, Apr 1 โ€” Omar Abdullah on Wednesday informed the Legislative Assembly that a Rs 46.60 crore Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) has been approved for Gulmarg to strengthen sanitation infrastructure.

The Chief Minister said the 2 MLD STP project is scheduled for execution during the 2026โ€“27 financial year and is aimed at improving wastewater management in the tourist destination.

He added that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a Solid Waste Treatment Plant is currently under preparation, indicating further expansion of waste management infrastructure in the area.

The initiative is part of the governmentโ€™s efforts to improve sanitation systems and address environmental concerns in high-footfall tourist locations across Jammu and Kashmir.ย
