Srinagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested the Assistant Engineer of Rural Development Department, Sub-Division Awantipora, Pulwama, for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 2000 to release payment.
“A complaint alleging therein that Mushtaq Ahmad Najar, Assistant Engineer Rural Development Department (REW), Sub-Division Awantipora, Pulwama has demanded a bribe of Rs 2,000 for releasing CDR amount of Rs 7,000,” Anti-Corruption Bureau said in a statement.
He was assigned to work on the Improvement of walling/ Gate around Panchayat Ghar at Dangerpora Padgampora, Pulwama, as per the complaint.

He was arrested on the spot, the statement reads.
The bribe money was also recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses and further investigation is in progress.
