After four days of logjam in Indian Parliament, the Opposition moved a no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha (lower house of the parliament) against the NDA government to force Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address parliament over Manipur row.
The decision to file the motion was taken in a meeting of the newly formed Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA).
The development comes amid the Opposition’s demand for Prime Minister Modi’s statement followed by discussions on Manipur under rule 267.

However, Modi has a clear majority of 301 members in the 542-seat lower house of parliament, so the no-confidence vote will not affect its stability.
Meanwhile Home Minister Amit Shah said: "I have written to the Leaders of Opposition in both Houses that the government is ready for a discussion on Manipur and urged them to create a conducive atmosphere for a discussion on this sensitive matter.”
