Sopore: Scores of employees of Industrial Estate in Sopore town of north Kashmir Baramulla district on Wednesday held a protest demonstration over power crises, stating that they suffer huge losses.
Industrial Estates President Sopore Javed Bhat said that they are facing huge losses due to power crises and the outages have been persistent for the last two months.
"On an average, industry suffers around 2-3 Crores losses per day. In the absence of power supply, we are now thinking to shift the sector to Jammu,” he added.
The protestors warned of massive agitation if electricity isn’t restored and urged the administration to intervene into the matter.
Notably, power crisis have gripped the town at a time when government is installing smart meters in the area.
Since last year, protests erupted from across Kashmir valley over power crisis as locals disallow installing of smart meters, authorities cut the power supply.
