NIA Raids 5 Locations In Shopian, Budgam Says ‘Incriminating Documents Seized On UP Al Qaeda Case’

Srinagar: In connection with “Al- Qaeda case of Lucknow UP," National Investigation Agency (NIA, India’s counter-terrorist task force) carried searches at five locations in south kashmir’s Shopian and central’s Budgam district

According to an NIA statement, the case involves Umar Halmandi, an alleged Al-Qaeda operative, who along with other accused persons,  had been “radicalizing and recruiting vulnerable persons for (AQIS) Al-Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent.

NIA said they are trying to raise Ansaar Gajwatul Hind (AGH) to carry out (militant) acts for which they had already arranged arms and explosive substances.

The case was initially registered as FIR on 11 July 2021, police station ATS, Uttar Pradesh and NIA had re-registered the same on 29 July 2021.

“During the searches conducted today, many incriminating documents and digital devices have been seized."
