Kupwara: Family members of a woman on Sunday alleged that their newborn baby died, hours after being delivered at SDH (sub-district hospital) Tangdhar due to medical negligence.
The family said his head has a sharp blade injury on his head, his condition deteriorated and we shifted him to Handwara hospital where doctors said it’s because of the blood loss caused by the head injury.
Abid Qayoom, elder brother of the woman said it was a half-lived joy, all were thunderstruck and shell-shocked as he passed away halfway to Srinagar on Pattan highway.
It happened because of the carelessness of the medical team at SDH Tangdhar and the medical negligence is institutionalized.
The family members have demanded stern action against the SDH Tangdhar medical team saying that it’s their negligence and they must accept it without any further explanation as is evident from the head injury.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mehraj Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Kupwara said he was unaware of the incident and he will verify it first before commenting on it.
"I’ll look into it but as of now I don’t know anything about the same", Dr. Mehraj said.
