Srinagar: To register Kashmir land in terms of the J&K Reorganization Act, 2019, under the Central Land Acquisition Act, J&K administration on Friday directed residents to register land or property under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 (Act 30 of 2013.)
Land acquisition is the power of the union or a state government in India to acquire private land for the purpose of industrialisation, development of infrastructural facilities or urbanisation of the private land, and to compensate the affected land owners for their rehabilitation and resettlement. Land acquisition means acquisition of land under the Land Acquisition Act, 1894, as amended from time to time. Private land shall be acquired as per provisions of Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.
According to the act, Land acquisition means the process whereby a person is compelled by a public agency/Govt to alienate all or part of the land s/he owns or possesses to the ownership and possession of that agency, for a public purpose, in return for compensation.
It also means the compulsory taking of or alienation of land, buildings or other assets thereon for purposes of the Project. The landowner may be left with the right to negotiate the amount of compensation proposed. This includes land or assets for which the owner enjoys uncontested customary rights.
The Government of Jammu & Kashmir has prepared draft rules in exercise of powers conferred by Section 109 of the said Act which has been published as required under section 112 of the said Act, for information of all persons likely to be affected thereby; and notice is hereby given that the said draft rules shall be taken into consideration after the expiry of a period of 15 (fifteen) days from the date of publication in Official Gazette.

Any objection or suggestion which may be received from any person with respect to the said draft rules within the period so specified shall be considered by the Government.
