Srinagar: The J&K administration on Sunday ordered to observe the Ashura (10th Muharram) holiday a day later i.e. Tuesday, August 9.
“In partial modification of Government Order, it is hereby ordered that the holiday on account of "Ashoora" shall now be observed on 9th of August, 2022 (Tuesday) instead of 8th of August, 2022 (Monday),” reads a government order.
Ashura, is the 10th day of the first Islamic month of Muharram, The day holds immense importance since pre-historic times among all Abrahamic religions.
