Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Sunday announced that the 43-day long Holy Amarnath pilgrimage for Hindus will start from June 30 amid strict adherence to Covid protocols.
J&K LG, Manoj Sinha chaired today chaired a Board meeting at the Amarnathji Shrine Board.
“The 43-day holy pilgrimage will commence on 30th June with all covid protocols in place & culminate, as per the tradition on the day of Raksha Bandhan," tweeted the Office of the J&K LG.

The tweet further read that the LG and the shrine Board officials had an in-depth discussion on the various issues related to the upcoming pilgrimage (Yatra.)

Amarnath is a cave shrine situated at an altitude of 12,756 ft about 141 km from Srinagar and 29kms from the famous tourist destination Pahalgam, south Kashmir.
Inside the cave is a ‘Shiva’ Lingam (a phallus shaped formation made of ice) considered to be of Shiva’s, a Hindu god.
