Heavy Precipitation Expected in Southern Kashmir

Srinagar, 27th February โ€” A fresh spell of rain and snow is set to intensify across Jammu and Kashmir, with moderate to heavy precipitation expected over the next 24 hours, particularly in higher reaches and southern parts of Kashmir, and is likely to peak by late afternoon or evening, according to Kashmir Weather Forecast.ย

Heavy rainfall and hailstorms have already been reported in Mendhar, Poonch, while Banihal has witnessed intense downpours, and isolated higher reaches have received heavy snowfall.ย

The plains of Kashmir could see a shift from rain to snow due to a sharp drop in temperature, though rainfall is expected to dominate.

According to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar, an improvement in weather is expected from tomorrow afternoon. However, light rain and snow may continue at isolated locations on March 1-2, with another wet spell forecasted on March 3.ย

Dry conditions are expected from March 4-8, the department said.ย

Authorities have issued an advisory warning of temporary disruptions in surface transport on key routes, including Sadhna Pass, Razdan Pass, Sonamarg-Zojila-Gumri axis, Mughal Road, and Sinthan Pass.ย

โ€œTravelers and transporters have been urged to follow official advisories, while farmers have been advised to suspend irrigation and other agricultural operations due to the weather conditions.โ€ย
