Govt Snaps Electricity As Residents Protest, Oppose Installing Smart Meters In Srinagar

Srinagar: Authorities of LG administration suspend the electricity supply at Gadood Bagh in the Habba Kadal area of Srinagar city after residents opposed the installation of smart meters.

As per reports, Locals held a protest on Monday when authorities reached the area to install smart meters.

After the protest, electricity was snapped at around 02:00 PM.

"Since then we have not received electricity. This is sheer highhandedness on part of the authorities," locals said.

Meanwhile, Chief Engineer Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), Javed Yousuf Dar said that the electricity has been snapped as residents objected to installation of smart meters.

"The order in this regard has been received from top officials," he said.
