Govt Seals 64 Mutton Shops, Collects Rs 55200 Fine In Five Days

Srinagar: Given complaints pouring in from various corners regarding overcharging by mutton sellers, the Enforcement squad of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) sealed 64 mutton shops from last week and also imposed a fine of Rs 27000 on 17 ‘erring’ traders. 

It also said that during January 2023 i.e. for five days, the department collected a fine of Rs 55200 from 197 ‘erring’ traders across the valley for violating E.C. Act.

“Besides, 41 establishments also stand sealed,” the department said.

“Moreover, the erring lot has been reprimanded to remain careful in the future. The drive will continue in the same passion in the future as well & whosoever is found violating the norms will be brought to justice. In case of any complaint, people may contact the toll-free number 18001807011.”
