Jammu: The Administrative Council (AC) under the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on Monday alloted 86 Kanals of land for housing and office purposes.
The order approved by the Revenue Department in Jammu region transferred 80 Kanal of land situated in North Kashmir’s Bandipora for Housing & Urban Development Department (H&UDD) to establish dumping sites for solid waste management.
The areas were identified as villages including Rakh-I-Asham, 30 Kanals in Sumbal, 20 Kanals in Hajin and 30 Kanals in Bandipora town.
Moreover, it alloted six Kanal in favour of Jal Shakti (Water) Department for construction of Over Head Tank (OHT)/Rapid Sand Filtration Plant (RSFP)/Pump cum operator quarter WSS Barzulla Colony and establishment of PHE Division Office in south Kashmir’s Pulwama.
Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary, J&K and Nitishwar Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor attended the meeting.
"Proper and scientific disposal of solid waste will boost public health by providing cleaner environment and assist in abetting environmental degradation and pollution, besides it would look into the vision of litter-free J&K," reads MoM (minutes of the meeting.)
