Srinagar: High-resolution with facial recognition technology (FRT) cameras are likely to be installed across Srinagar city, GK reported.
After recent spate of militancy-related incidents in the city, official sources said ‘there is a need for this technology, currently 300 cameras were already been installed.
The FRT Facial Recognition Technology uses biometrics to screen facial features from a photograph or video and compares the information with its database of known faces to find a match. Facial recognition can help verify a person’s identity.
“This can help in preventing attacks in the future, in case a known over-ground worker steps out,” he said.
