Earthquake Jolts Kashmir, Tilts Minaret Of Chare Shareef

Srinagar: An earthquake with the magnitude of 5.7 jolted Kashmir parts on Saturday morning.

Around 09:50 AM, 5.7 magnitude tremors jolted Kashmir with epicenter in the Hindu Kush Region on Afghanistan โ€“ Tajakistan border and 20 kms in depth.

Meanwhile, the minaret of shrine of Sheikh Ul Alam (RA) Chare Shareef located in Central Kashmirโ€™s Budgam got tilted due to the earthquake on Saturday morning.

Administrator Waqf board Chrar-e-Shareef said the crown at the minaret of the shrine got tilted and lost its original shape due to the strong tremors felt across Kashmir.

He said that there is no major damage to the shrine and everything is being inspected from inner and outer side.
