DC Bandipora Airlifts Two Patients From Snowbound Gurez

Bandipora: The administration in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday airlifted two patients from snowbound Gurez valley to Bandipora town for immediate medical relief, officials said.

Officials at District Control Room Bandipora said on the directions of DC, Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad, the two patients identified as Ruqaya Nusrat, Daughter of Muhammad Shafi of Sardab and Rupanee Begum, wife of Habib Sheikh of Sheikhpora requiring emergency treatment were airlifted from Gurez valley.

The officials said that the patients later were shifted to the hospital for special treatment.

Notably, the snow-clad Gurez valley remains cut off from the rest of the Kashmir parts during winters, owing to heavy snowfall in the valley.

The dard tribe of Gilgit-balistan live in Gurez; a tall slanted mountain known as the mount of Habba Khatoon greets on entrance and a blue river, divided by (LOC) borders are called by two names, Kishanganga and Neelum.

In winters, most of the Gurezis move to Bandipora town of North Kashmir due to snowbound road closure.
