Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has constituted a high-level selection committee led by the Chief Secretary for the post of Director at the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura.
As per the order issued by the Health and Medical Education Department, Atal Dullo, Chief Secretary of J&K, will be the Chairman of the committee. The other members include M. Srinivas, Director of AIIMS New Delhi; Prof Dr Vivek Lal, Director of PGIMER Chandigarh; and Dr Achal Kumar Srivastava, Professor in the Department of Neurology at AIIMS New Delhi. Syed Abid Rasheed, Secretary of the Health and Medical Education Department, will serve as a member and secretary of the committee.
The committee has been tasked with preparing a panel of three candidates in order of merit, following the laid down criteria for the selection of the Director of SKIMS.
Notably, former Director of SKIMS, Dr Parvaiz Koul, retired on 8th March, after which Abid Rasheed, Secretary of the Health and Medical Education Department, assumed additional charge as Director of SKIMS.
The position of Director at SKIMS was advertised last month, attracting 29 applicants. However, the government has yet to publish the shortlist of candidates.
