Kathua: Referring to Article 370 of the Indian constitution as a ‘cancer’ for India, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar expressed skepticism about the possibility of its abrogation, stating his belief that the constitutional provision might endure.
Addressing a function at Biotech Startup Expo in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, Vice President said that he didn’t think Article 370 would ever end.
“It was temporary but was posing like cancer for the country,” he said.
He congratulated the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Parliament and Supreme Court for erasing the law from the Indian Constitution for ever.
“Article 370 is no more in the Constitution. It was a cancer for the country. Ultimately dream of Late Syama Prasad Mukherjee has been fulfilled," he said.
Pertinently, Article 370 which provided special status to J&K was repealed by the government of India on August 05, 2019 and upheld by the Supreme Court.
