Srinagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested a Sarpanch from Khulchohar village of Anantnag district for accepting bribe of Rs 6,500 for approving work files related to works executed by the complainant.
Anti-Corruption Bureau received a complaint, wherein the complainant alleged that Sarpanch Khulchohar, District Anantnag Hafiza Begum, wife of Ghulam Qadir Kumar of Kulhchohar, Block Shangus, Anantnag has demanded Rs 6500 on account of approving work files related to works executed under MGNREGA, 14 FC and SBM through the office of BDO Shangus, the statement reads.
“Subsequently, a trap team was constituted. The trap team caught Hafiza Begum W/o Ghulam Qadir Kumarof Kulhchohar, Block Shangus, Anantnag while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 6500 from the complainant.
She was arrested and taken into custody by ACB Team.
The bribe money was also recovered from her possession in presence of independent witnesses,” ACB said.
