Trump Plans ICC Sanctions After Taking Office

WASHINGTON, 3 January, 2025: US President-elect Donald Trump intends to impose sweeping sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague shortly after taking office, Israel Hayom reported.

Citing informed sources, the report said that executive orders targeting the court and its personnel could be revealed as early as January 21, a day after Trump’s inauguration.

“The proposed measures would classify the ICC as a threat to US interests, akin to designations applied to global terrorist organizations by the State Department,” according to the newspaper.

"Such classification will lead to significant restrictions on individuals associated with the court, including judges, prosecutors, and other officials," it added.

The sanctions reportedly strive to pressure the ICC into retracting its arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over Gaza war.

“The incoming administration views the warrants as a critical risk to US national security, arguing that they undermine the ability of the US and its allies to defend against global threats,” said the report.
