Scores of people protested in rebel-held Syria on Friday against President Bashar al-Assad's participation in the Arab League summit in Saudi Arabia.

Reportedly. Assad received warm welcome at the Arab League which Syrians see as the normalisation of Assad government’s relationship with Arab world.

Protests were reported in the town of Azaz, Al-Bab, Afrin and Idlib.

"The people want the fall of the regime," chanted protestors and carried a cry rally of the 2011 protests.

"Syria cannot be represented by Assad, the criminal," read a banner at the protest in the town, which is under the control of pro-Turkish rebels.

The Arab League suspended Syria’s membership in May 2011 following the brutal way al-Assad handled the protests, as well as the civilians who started the Syrian revolution.

The war has since killed more than 500,000 people and driven around half the pre-war population from their homes.
