Srinagar: The Special Mobile Magistrate Traffic Court Kashmir has scheduled a Lok Adalat ("People's Court,” a form of alternative dispute resolution (ADR)) for May 11 to address the mounting issue of pending challans (traffic violations).
An official public notice issued by the Traffic Police Rural Kashmir warns that 'failure to appear on the specified date could result in the cancellation of vehicle registration certificates (RCs) for the violators.'
According to details, the cumulative sum of fines accrued by these offenders is estimated to run into lakhs, with fines ranging from a nominal Rs 100 to Rs 10,000 and beyond per person.
“All summoned individuals are urged to ensure their presence on the designated date to resolve their pending challans,” the notice further reads.
