It is imperative that the Karnataka police and state administration handle the allegations against Prajwal Revanna, the suspended leader of the Janata Dal (Secular) party and sitting Member of Parliament from Hassan, Karnataka, with the utmost sensitivity and professionalism.

This is crucial to ensure the safety and privacy of the women involved, especially considering the leaked videos purportedly depicting over 2000 women.

In the digital era, viral content can haunt people for decades as images/vidoes move at lightning speed and endure indefinitely.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) tasked to probe the rape and sexual harassment accusations must immediately remove videos depicting the alleged acts to safeguard the identities of the women.

Recent years have seen disturbing headlines concerning allegations of sexual misconduct by individuals in positions of authority, underlining the challenging power dynamics and political influence that hinder accountability with the case of Brij Bhushan Saran Singh, sitting Member of Parliament from the Bharatiya Janata Party in Kaiserganj, Uttar Pradesh, and former President of the Wrestling Federation of India, cited as an example.

Victims of sexual abuse often hesitate to come forward, typically doing so when their suffering becomes unbearable, lacking familial support, or when they believe justice is unattainable, all while seeking privacy and security.

Given the gravity of the accusations, it would be appropriate for these leaders to step down from public office until the investigation concludes.
