Ramallah, March 5 — At least 9,500 Palestinians are currently detained in Israeli prisons, according to a report from Palestinian prisoners’ affairs organizations released today.

The Commission of Detainees’ Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner Society, in a joint statement, confirmed that the detainees include at least 21 women and 350 children.

"This ongoing detention crisis makes minors and women," the groups stated.

The report further mentioned that 3,405 Palestinians are being held without charge or trial under Israel’s controversial administrative detention policy.

This practice allows for the prolonged detention of individuals without a formal trial

"Administrative detention continues to be a tool for indefinite imprisonment, often without evidence or due process," the statement noted.

The groups also pointed out that nearly 1,555 of those detained are from Gaza, doubling the number of detainees from Gaza in Israeli prisons before the Israeli war on Gaza in October 2023.

Before the conflict, approximately 5,240 Palestinians were incarcerated by Israel.
