Anantnag, Feb 6 — The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday carried out searches at Government Medical College (GMC), Anantnag, in connection with the so-called “white-collar” module busted in November last year, officials said.

A team of NIA officers reached the medical college in the morning and searched premises linked to the case, which had earlier led to the recovery of a rifle from a doctor’s locker.

“The searches are connected to the recovery made in November as part of the ongoing investigation into the module,” an official said.

Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather, a faculty member at GMC Anantnag, was among nine people arrested earlier in the case, officials confirmed. The probe had also resulted in the seizure of large quantities of explosives from Faridabad in the National Capital Region (NCR).

“No fresh arrests or recoveries have been made during today’s searches,” the official added.

The agency continues to examine financial and logistical links allegedly used by the module to support militant activities, officials said.
