Akhnoor: A search operation has been launched in the Akhnoor sector along the Line of Control (LoC) after a movement of militants was observed in the area.
Reports suggest that a group of armed young men were spotted in the Kalakot area, whom the military believes likely moved towards the Akhnoor sector.
However, Jammu-based defense spokesman Lt. Colonel Suneel Bhartwal told the news agency KNO that it was a routine search operation after the suspected movement was witnessed.
It is pertinent to mention that after the killing of a Village Defense Guard (VDG) member in a targeted attack in Udhampur on April 27, followed by an attack on an Indian Air Force (IAF) vehicle in Poonch, in which one IAF official was killed, the military has been continually engaged in search operations in Basantgarh and forest areas of adjoining Kathua and Doda districts, and Sanai forests.
Now, in Akhnoor, another search operation has been launched following the suspected movement.
