Bandipora: A local militant who was killed in Bandipora’s Aragam has been identified as a resident of Pattan, officials said. However, his name and age was not disclosed by officials.
The operation began after the military noticed suspicious movement near Aragam’s forest area and opened fire on Sunday night.
In a post on X, the Military’s Chinar Corps said: “Based on specific intelligence input regarding the presence of militants, a joint operation was launched by the Indian military and Jammu and Kashmir Police on the intervening night of June 16-17 in the general area of Gurihajin, Aragam, Bandipora; one militant was eliminated, but the operation is ongoing.”
The officials maintain that the operation began after militants opened fire on personnel.
