MeT Predicts Another Wet Spell From Tomorrow

Srinagar: Light to moderate rains and thunderstorms are expected on April 18 and 19, as predicted by the Meteorological Department on Wednesday.

According to a meteorological department official: “cloudy weather with light to moderate rainfall and light snow over higher reaches is expected at most places with thunder/lightning during April 18 evening to April 19 late evening/night.”

“Light rain is expected at scattered places from April 21 to 25. Generally dry weather is anticipated, but isolated afternoon thundershower activity cannot be ruled out,” he said.

Regarding the temperature, he said Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 9.4°C compared to 7.6°C the previous night, which is above normal by 1.5°C.

In South Kashmir, Qazigund, the gateway town of the Kashmir valley, recorded a minimum of 6.2°C compared to 7.4°C the previous night, below normal by 0.3°C.

Pahalgam recorded a low of 2.1°C compared to 8.1°C the previous night, which is below normal by 1.3°C, while Kokernag logged a minimum of 7.0°C compared to 6.9°C the previous night, above normal by 0.5°C.

In north Kashmir, Gulmarg, the world-famous skiing resort, recorded a low of 1.6°C compared to 0.4°C the previous night, below normal by 0.7°C.

Additionally, Kupwara recorded a low of 7.0°C compared to 6.4°C the previous night, below normal by as much as 0.6°C.

He mentioned that Jammu recorded a minimum of 16.3°C, below normal by 3.6°C.

Pir Panchal’s Banihal recorded a low of 11.8°C, and the Chenab valley’s Bhaderwah logged 7.8°C.
