Man Killed, Four Injured as Cold Storage Structure Collapses in Pulwama

Gusty winds trigger truss failure at under-construction unit in Lassipora

Srinagar, Apr 16 — A man was killed and four others were injured on Thursday after the truss of an under-construction cold storage unit collapsed due to strong winds in Lassipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said.

“Due to strong winds, the under-construction cold storage unit collapsed, injuring at least five persons. One among them succumbed at the hospital,” an official said.

The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital, where one of them, identified as Sajad Ahmad Mir of Ruhama, Rafiabad, died of his injuries.

The four injured have been identified as Jaspreet Singh of Amritsar, Aijaz Kumar, Hilal Ahmad Rather of Budgam, and Naseer Ahmad Mir of Baramulla. Their condition was not immediately known.
