Srinagar: Citing bad weather, the administration of J&K has directed locals and tourists against travelling on the Sinthan, Margan pass routes in south Kashmir's Anantnag district due to bad weather conditions and SHO (station housing officer) Larnoo and Naib Tehsildar Larnoo has been told to set up Naka (checkpoint) at Daksum and Gowran to restrict all kinds of vehicular traffic on Thursday.
“Given widespread rains, snowfall, and bad weather conditions, people of Tehsil Larnoo and outside tourists are advised to refrain from venturing in a landslide and shooting stone-prone areas,” reads the govt notification issued by Tehsildar Larnoo.
“Moreover rainfall/thunderstorm/snowfall may lead to disruption of traffic on Sinthan pass and Margan pass roads. People are advised to refrain from traveling on these two roads (today),” reads the notice.
“Also in compliance with the directions of SDM (Sub District Magistrate) Kokernag, SHO Larnoo and Naib Tehsildar Larnoo are hereby directed to setup Naka at Daksum and Gowran and restrict all kinds of vehicular traffic on Sinthan pass and Margan pass roads on 20/10/2022," it added.
It is pertinent to mention that the upper reaches of Kashmir including North Kashmir's Gulmarg, Gurez, and Kupwara received fresh snowfall on Thursday.
On Wednesday, North Kashmir's Gulmarg, South Kashmir's Sinthan Top which connects Anantnag and Kishtwar districts, Mughal road which connects Shopian with Pir Panchal, central Kashmir's Zojilla pass which connects Kashmir with Kargil and other places had another snowfall spell.
