Srinagar, Jan 6 — Cabinet Minister Javed Rana on Tuesday said Ladakh would eventually rejoin Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that a united Jammu and Kashmir is inevitable and will have to be restored.
Speaking to reporters, Rana said the Government of India would ultimately have no option but to bring back a united Jammu and Kashmir. “The days are not far when Ladakh will again become part of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said, adding that unity reflects both history and public sentiment.
The minister dismissed recent claims by a BJP MLA suggesting that Jammu could be carved out as a separate state, calling such statements baseless. “These claims are imaginary and misleading. There is no such demand on the ground,” Rana said.
He said no call for a separate Jammu state has emerged from the Pir Panjal or Chenab regions. “People from these regions continue to see themselves as part of a united Jammu and Kashmir. There has been no demand for bifurcation,” he said.
Referring to the historical background, Rana said, “Jammu and Kashmir was once a full-fledged state, parts of which were later occupied by Pakistan and China, while Ladakh was separated at a later stage.” He expressed confidence that the political situation would change over time.
Rana said the aspiration for unity among the people would prevail in the long run and that Jammu and Kashmir would eventually be restored in its united form.
