SRINAGAR, Feb 15—Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has ordered the termination of three Jammu and Kashmir government employees under Article 311(2)(c) of the Indian Constitution, which permits dismissal without an inquiry in matters concerning state security.

The dismissed employees are Firdous Ahmad Bhat, a police constable; Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, a teacher; and Nisar Ahmad Khan, an orderly in the Forest Department.

These terminations are based on allegations of involvement in activities deemed prejudicial to the security of the state.

Article 311(2)(c) allows the government to bypass standard inquiry procedures when it is satisfied that such an inquiry is not expedient in the interest of state security.

Meanwhile, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has criticized the NC government over the issue, stating that arbitrary dismissals continue unchecked despite the promises made before coming to power.

“Arbitrary & summary dismissals of government employees has become a daily occurrence since 2019. What is perhaps most surprising & puzzling is that it continues unabated despite an elected government in power that had promised to put an end to such practices once in office. People had pinned their hopes on the new government expecting at least some relief through vigorous advocacy of these issues with the LG.” she said in a post on X.
