Israel Weighs Strike on Iran’s Nuclear Facilities

Washington, D.C. 15 February 2025– Israel is considering a strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, according to U.S. intelligence reports, amid rising tensions between Washington, Tel Aviv, and Tehran.

The Wall Street Journal, citing unnamed officials familiar with the intelligence, reported that Israel sees Iran’s “weakened” military position in the Middle East as increasing the likelihood of further high-stakes military activity in the region.

The assessment, compiled in the final days of Joe Biden’s presidency, indicated that Israel might seek U.S. support if it moves forward with an attack.

Israeli officials reportedly believe Donald Trump—who returned to the presidency—would be more inclined to back military action than Biden had been at the time.

A second intelligence report, produced during the early days of Trump’s administration, reinforced the notion that Israel continues to deliberate on striking Iran’s nuclear sites.

The revelation of Israel’s potential plans surfaced as Trump, on Monday, stated that Iran’s nuclear ambitions could be halted “either with bombs or with a written piece of paper.”

In response, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Wednesday urged the country to further develop its military capabilities to defend against external threats.
