Israel Continues Blocking Aid to Gaza

Gaza, March 5— Israel has continued its blockade on Gaza, halting the entry of food, medicine, and humanitarian aid despite warnings from the United Nations' World Food Program.

The UN agency reported Wednesday that its stocks in Gaza are dwindling, with only two weeks of supplies remaining.

"The situation is dire. Our food and fuel stocks are running low, and we are deeply concerned about the ability to continue operations in Gaza," the World Food Program stated.

It noted that its limited resources were prioritized for food distribution to the Palestinian population, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.

While humanitarian assistance was permitted during the first six weeks of the truce, the ongoing restrictions have left thousands without essential support.

Meanwhile, Arab leaders and Hamas have endorsed a five-year, $53 billion plan to rebuild Gaza to counter a controversial plan by U.S. President Donald Trump to "take over" the enclave.

Hamas has expressed its support for the Egypt-led initiative, with a spokesperson mentioning, "We welcome calls for free elections and support efforts to restore peace in Gaza through this plan."

At least 48,388 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s war on Gaza, with the Government Media Office raising the toll to more than 61,700 after many others presumed dead under rubble. On the Israeli side, 1,139 people were killed in the October 7 Hamas-led attacks.
