Ramban, Apr 6 — The Jammu–Srinagar National Highway was closed for traffic on Monday after a landslide triggered by continuous rainfall blocked the road in Ramban district, officials said.

The Traffic Police said the highway remains obstructed between Karol Bridge and Chanderkote, bringing vehicular movement on the key link between Jammu and Srinagar to a halt.

“No vehicular movement shall be allowed from Jammu towards Ramban, Banihal and Srinagar, and vice versa, until the road is fully restored,” an official said.

Authorities have deployed men and machinery to clear the debris, but ongoing stone slides along the affected stretch are delaying restoration efforts.

Commuters have been advised to avoid travel on the highway and plan journeys only after confirmation of road status.
