Srinagar, May 5 — The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of Crime Branch J&K has arrested a senior Health Department official for allegedly facilitating a fraudulent appointment using forged documents.
The accused, identified as Shahnawaz Ahmad Mir, a Senior Assistant and resident of Tankipora Shaheed Gunj in Srinagar, was arrested in connection with FIR No. 19/2017 registered under Sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the RPC.
According to officials, the case relates to the fraudulent appointment of one Bashir Ahmad Sofi of Mazhama, Budgam, who secured a post as Health Educator by submitting forged transfer orders and a fabricated Last Pay Certificate.
“Investigation revealed that the accused illegally entered service at Block Sheeri Baramulla and drew salary, causing wrongful loss to the state exchequer,” an official said.
The Crime Branch said Mir played a role in facilitating the незакон appointment process. Officials added that his involvement has surfaced in multiple similar cases, some of which are already under investigation or have been charge-sheeted.
Further investigation is ongoing.
