Gaza, March 14 — At least four people have been killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Zeitoun neighborhood in southern Gaza City, according to media reports.
Moreover, Israeli tanks are intensively shelling Palestinian homes in the town of ash-Shawka, located to the east of Rafah city in southern Gaza.
According to the Euro-Med Monitor, Israel has killed at least 150 Palestinians since the Gaza ceasefire began on January 19, averaging three deaths per day.
"The continuation of these attacks in violation of the ceasefire raises concerns over Israel's commitment to peace," a spokesperson from the Euro-Med Monitor mentioned.
Meanwhile, Israeli officials accused Hamas of using "manipulation and psychological warfare" after rejecting a ceasefire framework proposed by U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff.
Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office pointed out, “While Israel accepted the Witkoff framework, Hamas remains firm in its refusal and has not budged an inch.”
However, Hamas maintained its stance, stating it had agreed to release Israeli soldier Edan Alexander, who holds U.S. citizenship, along with the bodies of four other dual nationals.
In a statement, Hamas reiterated its commitment to the ceasefire terms as initially negotiated and stressed the importance of moving to the next phase of the agreement.
More than 48,388 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s war on Gaza, with the Government Media Office raising the toll to more than 61,700 after many others were presumed dead under the rubble.
On the Israeli side, 1,139 people were killed in the October 7 Hamas-led attacks.
