Srinagar: Amid cloud cover, the night temperature continues to hover below normal across Jammu and Kashmir.
According to details shared by the meteorological department, Kashmir’s capital Srinagar recorded a low of 7.8°C, compared to 5.7°C the previous night, below normal by 1.9°C.
In south Kashmir, Qazigund, the gateway town of the valley, recorded a minimum of 6.2°C, compared to 3.6°C the previous night, below normal by 2.3°C.
Pahalgam recorded a low of 1.7°C, compared to 1.0°C the previous night, below normal by 3.2°C, while Kokernag logged a minimum of 5.9°C, compared to 4.4°C, below normal by 2.5°C.
In north Kashmir, Kupwara recorded a minimum of 4.8°C, compared to 4.7°C the previous night, below normal by 3.6°C.
Gulmarg, the world-famous skiing resort, recorded a minimum of 4.0°C, compared to minus 0.2°C, below normal by 0.3°C.
Jammu recorded a low of 17.6°C, compared to 15.7°C the previous night, and it was below normal by 5.0°C.
Pir Panchal’s Banihal recorded a low of 8.0°C, and the Chenab Valley’s Bhaderwah logged 6.1°C.
Regarding the forecast, a Met official said, 'Cloudy weather with light rain and thunder is expected at scattered places towards evening till May 4.' On May 5, he said,
'Dry weather with afternoon thundershower activity is likely at isolated places.'
Partly to generally cloudy weather with light rain and thunder is expected at a few places on May 6-7, he said.
From May 8-10, generally dry weather with afternoon thundershower activity is expected at a few places, the official added.
