Srinagar: The Annual Hindu holy pilgrimage of Amarnath in Kashmir Himalayas could extend to 60 days with the tentative start date expected to be 20 or 27 June, reports said.
However, Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB) is yet to announce the dates
In 2022, the pilgrimage lasted 43 days from 30 June to 11 August. The pilgrimage was not held in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID and only ‘Chhari Pujan’ was performed.
In 2019, the pilgrimage was curtailed by about 15 days when the autonomous status of J&K was scrapped on 5 August 2019.
