Srinagar, Nov 4: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to receive light rainfall at isolated places and snowfall over higher reaches around November 5, with another weather system expected to bring fresh precipitation on November 10 and 11, Meteorological Department Director Mukhtar Ahmad said on Tuesday.

Ahmad said a weak Western Disturbance is likely to affect the region around November 5, triggering light precipitation at isolated places. Most areas, however, are expected to experience dry weather from November 6 to 9.

Another Western Disturbance is likely to influence Jammu and Kashmir on November 10 and 11, potentially bringing light rainfall to some districts of both Kashmir and Jammu divisions, along with light snowfall over higher-altitude areas.

โ€œIsolated thundershowers are also possible during the period,โ€ Ahmad said, adding that no major weather activity was expected under the current forecast.

Meanwhile, temperatures across the region are gradually declining, with further drops anticipated over the coming days.

โ€œWinter has almost set in,โ€ the MeT director said, pointing to shallow fog over plains during morning hours.

He cautioned that foggy conditions and reduced visibility could become more frequent in the coming days and weeks, particularly during early morning hours.

Despite the changing weather, Ahmad advised farmers to continue agricultural operations, including harvesting, fresh sowing, threshing and field preparation, saying conditions remained largely favourable for such activities.

He also urged commuters and travellers to follow traffic advisories, particularly while travelling through vulnerable stretches and higher-altitude areas, where weather conditions could affect road movement.
