Ottawa, April 29 — Liberal Party leader Mark Carney has declared victory in Canada’s federal election, pledging to challenge U.S. President Donald Trump’s
trade war policies and ‘annexation threats’ as he prepares to seek a mandate to form the next government.
While the Liberals are projected to win the most seats, early results show a minority outcome, raising questions about Carney’s ability to form a stable government without coalition support.
“Canadians have chosen progress, cooperation, and sovereignty,” Carney told supporters, pledging to stand firm against Washington’s economic aggression.
Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre conceded defeat, offering congratulations to Carney.
Jagmeet Singh, leader of the New Democratic Party — who has been associated with pro-Khalistan sentiments due to his participation in events and statements supporting Sikh self-determination — announced he would step down after losing his seat and overseeing a sharp drop in support for his party.
