Srinagar, Jan 22 — A 65-year-old woman was found dead inside her home in Srinagar’s Nowshera area on Thursday, with police suspecting her domestic help in the killing, officials said.
The woman, identified as Rashida Begum, wife of Lateef Ahmad Gangoo and a resident of Mud Bagh, was found with her throat slit, police said.
“Information was received about a woman lying dead inside her house, following which a police team from Police Station Soura rushed to the spot,” an official said.
He said the body was shifted to SKIMS Soura for medico-legal formalities.
“Preliminary investigation suggests that the domestic help, a resident of Assam, is suspected to have committed the crime and fled from the spot,” the official said.
Police said a manhunt has been launched to trace the accused and further investigation into the case is underway.
