Srinagar: The family members of a woman found dead under mysterious circumstances at her in-law’s home in the Zonimar area of Srinagar on Sunday allege murder, while her in-laws claim suicide.
The deceased, identified as Mehvish, was reportedly unreachable despite numerous attempts by her family to contact her.
They (the family) said, ‘Her in-laws are claiming that she died by suicide, but they have murdered her. We demand a thorough probe into the matter.’
Meanwhile, a police official said that an FIR under relevant sections of law has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
He said that the cause of the woman’s death was also being ascertained.
