Kishtwar: Four members of a family, including a couple and two minors, were killed after their vehicle plunged into a deep gorge in the Bandarkoot area of the Kishtwar district in the Chenab region on Thursday, officials said.
The deceased have been identified as Yasir Ahmed Butt, son of Abdul Gani Butt, his wife Shazada Begum, their children Artash Yasir and Ailaf Yasir, while the injured person identified is Aarish Yasir, all residents of Berwar, Kishtwar.
The Station House Officer (SHO) of Kishtwar informed that the vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Bandarkoot.
He said four people died in the incident, while another one was injured.
Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Devansh Yadav said five family members were travelling in a swift car that fell into a deep gorge.
"Tragically four members of a family lost lives in the accident, while another is injured," he said.
He mentioned that the injured person was out of danger and assured that all possible assistance from the Red Cross would be provided.
