Two Militants Including LeT Commander Killed In Pampore

Srinagar: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar on Saturday said that two militants including a Lashkar-e-Toiba commander were killed in Drangbal area of Pampore.

He said yesterday night, Awantipora Police received information about two militants hiding in a concrete building.

“We offered to surrender but they fired and the encounter began. They were trapped in a three-storey concrete buiking,” IGP said.

“We fired grenades and the building caught fire,” he added.

“Two militants killed were identified as LeT (Lashkar-e-Toiba) commander Muhammad Sultan and another as Umar Khanday, also an associate of LeT,” IGP said.

He added that Umar Khanday was involved in the killing of two policemen in Baghat area of Srinagar. 

“We cannot protect everyone but people who are more vulnerable will be protected,” he assured.
